About this sample

This snare combines a rapidly dropping sine wave pitch from 350Hz to 185Hz for a tight, thumpy fundamental with a fixed 335Hz sine overtone simulating shell resonance. A band-passed noise layer between 1.2kHz and 7.5kHz adds snappy, textured high frequencies with a longer decay, while a brief high-passed noise burst creates a sharp initial transient. The layers are mixed and softly saturated using a tanh function for harmonic richness, then filtered with a 100Hz high-pass and 12kHz low-pass to remove sub-bass muddiness and harsh fizz. Stereo decorrelation on the noise widens the snare in the mix.

This snappy snare suits drum and bass or fast-paced electronic genres around 170-180 BPM. Use it as a punchy backbeat element, layering with kick or percussion for depth. In mixes, watch for masking in the mids and highs; gentle EQ might be needed to preserve clarity and prevent overlap with vocals or synths.
